Clark Builders Group Selected to Build Apartment and Retail Project in Northwest DC

WASHINGTON—On Thursday, March 8, The JBG Companies awarded Clark Builders Group the contract for 77H, a mixed-use apartment building located at 77 H Street, NW in Washington, DC. The project will feature four floors of apartments in addition to an 80,000 square-foot urban Walmart with grocery and pharmacy, the first in the city and one of the first ever mixed-use concepts for the chain, as well as in-line retail shops on the first floor of the building atop two levels of below-ground parking.

"Turning a parking lot into an attractive mixed-use development makes a welcome contribution to the city and further strengthens this urban corridor."

JBG selected Clark Builders Group (CBG) as the general contractor of this pedestrian-friendly apartment community in late 2011. CBG will work with architects Mushinsky Voelzke Associates (MV+A) and The Preston Partnership, LLC to deliver the project. Once complete, 77H will feature 303 apartments atop more than 90,000 GSF of retail space. The project's amenities will include a rooftop pool and deck, two outdoor courtyards, resident lounge, two-level fitness center, and an underground parking garage.

Situated in the heart of DC, 77H is adjacent to Union Station and just steps away from Capitol Hill. Central to not one but four thriving neighborhoods, H Street, NE, Gallery Place, Mount Vernon Triangle and NOMA, 77H is ideally located. 77H is expected to reach completion in February 2014.
